Tokyo hotel for solo female

Considering a solo trip to Tokyo for a few days (I’ve always wanted to go, DC and DH not bothered!).

Can anyone recommend a hotel that will feel safe for a solo female, close to transport and pretty central but not too noisy… that doesn’t cost ££££?

What's your budget? I like to stay at Okura or New Otani when in Tokyo. Although for Japan you can very safely go for 3 star hotels and still find that they are very clean and comfortable. Toyoko Inn and Hotel Mystays are 2 of their local chains that I know of, and you'll find them conveniently located near train stations.

Thanks for the reply - I’m not really sure what to expect re: budget. Not more than £150/night if possible! Quite happy to have a tiny room, clean and safe are my priorities.

The Excel in Shibuya might work for you.

Have a look at the Sunroute Plaza hotel in Shinjuku (the airport limousine bus service to both Haneda and Narita airports also stops there which is useful for both arrival and departure).

Alternatively I would try and raise your nightly budget closer to £200 if possible as this will give you more choice/flexibility.

I’ve never felt unsafe, even at night in Ueno where there are very cheap hotels.
Second the Sunroute suggestion.
£150pn is a good budget.
Try Grandbach Ginza, or the others clustered around there.

I can’t recommend a hotel offhand, but want to say that safety won’t be a concern there.
