Overhead luggage etiquette

Hi, I know I'm really overthinking this but it's my first time flying alone, I haven't flown for about 10 years and if stressed my common sense goes out the window 😂

So I wanted to check if theres any etiquette for putting your luggage in the overhead lockers. I'm flying ryanair and its definitely the right size mini case. Do I just aim to have it as near to me as possible or just stuff it wherever theres space? I'll have everything I need in my handbag so won't be blocking the aisle faffing at least.

Well yeah you want it near you but if it's full then put it in the next one

put it above your seat if there's space or as close as possible. If you board towards the end of the queue expect to have to put it where ever there is space if it's a full flight. It can be a pain if you have to go against the "flow" of passengers when you disembark but until you arrive you won't know if they'll use both doors or just the front ones.

Thanks both 😊

Tip.... if your destination airport uses steps, not an airbridge - try and book seats down the back. Firstly the back steps are much wider than the front and secondly fewer people use the back steps if queuing for priority boarding ( which you have to buy if bringing cabin luggage anyway). Many of the back seats are free of charge, whereas those further up often have an extra charge.

Just saying from experience of my many trips with Ryanair! And yes you just hoike your case up above you if there is space (see back seats and less of a crush!) or in the nearest overhead bin to your seat.
