I’ve booked a flight to Verona and have 6 days to explore.
looking to only stay in Verona for 1 night.
where would you go for other nights? Lake Garda? Further away? Short train rides away of no more than 1.5 hours . Help please

Verona is a fantastic city. Why would you only stay 1 night?

Venice!

ladymalfoy45 · 17/05/2023 16:45

Arco

Sirmione on Lake Garda is lovely.

ladymalfoy45 · 17/05/2023 16:47

You can commute from Arco to both Garda and Verona.

Bardolino on Lake Garda is very near and very lovely. You can carry on up to Garda from there too, or down to Lasize or over the water to Sirmione or bus/ boat to Malcesine. So many lovely options on the lake. Venice is also not far away and I have always fancied Florence but never made it, I think it's doable from Verona but might be a touch too far for a day trip unless you're very committed!

Lake Garda

Bologna. It's not far on the high speed train. We did it last summer. Bologna is a lovely walkable city with amazing food. You could also go to Venice. But for smaller and quieter Padua is also a lovely city. It's also not too far to the beaches of the Lido near Venice.

Padula is lovely and, I think, nicer than Verona.
Bologna and Venice also good choices, as is Desenzano on Lake Garda. Trains are very efficient between all these places, so don't bother with a car.

We stayed in lido de Jessolo and went to Verona Venice and lake Garda
I can’t remember the name of the resort on lake Garda but wasn’t overly impressed to be honest.
verona is beautiful and it’s to see and do. Lido is good as well. As beach resort and town. Lots to see and do there as well

Why not use Verona as a base? actually I know why, it's because it's ££££ in opera season

Easy day trips would be Vicenza, Padua, Venice, boat trip on Brenta Canal. That's practically a trip in itself as they are all on the same line.

From Verona we did Lake Garda and Venice.
