Going on a tour of parliament tomorrow. dd (8) is coming with me. We have about an hour for lunch so I'd like to take her somewhere nice but speedy. Any suggestions please?

Well, if it's the Scottish Parliament I can recommend a lot of nice places!

If you head up the road going towards Victoria Station from Parliament Sqaure, there's some chains there - Pret a Manger, Costas, etc. AND a Pizza Express, which might be more appropriate. There are also some cafes/restaurants on Strutton Ground - it's a small pedestrian street with market on - it has a cheap buffet chinese restaurant, a sushi place (can't imagine your DD would be too excited by this as quite adult though). Pizza Express might be a safer bet.
Or, if you go to no.4 Millbank - go in main entrance and turn left, there's pret a manger type place there, selling sandwiches, smoothies, etc. can't remember what it's called.

In the end as time was short we ate at the Jubilee cafe in parliament. Although there wasnt much choice it was pretty reasonable for central London.
Had a good day in general house of commons was in session (question time) so we couldnt go in but we went into the house of Lords. Afternoon was at the cabinet war rooms.
Am shattered!

That's great to hear. Can't wait until my 8 month old dd is old enough to be taken on these kind of day trips.
