I’m checking in for our flight on 14-22nd June and just realised from then there’s only 5 months left on the passport for my 3 year old. I just wanted to check as long as there’s at least 3 months after the day we plan to leave everything will be ok!?

How is that possible when children's passports are valid for 5 years?

NuffSaidSam · 15/05/2023 20:38

Where are you going?

TTCxox · 15/05/2023 20:38

I think you need six months from day you return for most EU countries.

Excellent question!

Is it a UK passport op?

How can a 3 year old only have 5 months left on their passport?

Nattertatter03 · 15/05/2023 20:41

How can a three year old’s five year passport expire?

If you get passport at age 3 months old, it will expire when the child is 4 and 3 mos old. You’re forgetting year zero.

My child's first passport, issued at a few weeks old, expired when she was. The second one at 10. Her current one will expire when she's 15...

1 year 3 months would be 1 year
2 year 3 months 2 years

and so on until 5 years and 3 months = 5 years

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know what year it is!

Surely 4 years and 9 months leaving 3 months remaining?!

I bet you're one of those people who thinks a month is 4:weeks and rounds up ages to the next year 😀
