can anyone recommend any coastal towns to holiday with a 4 year old? we’ve done Skegness and although dd enjoyed it there we don’t want to go back this year. Ideally looking for somewhere with nice beaches, play parks, swimming pools and arcades, as well as some stuff for dh and I to enjoy seeing/ doing. 🏖️

Look at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire. It is perfect for a 4 yr old.Has sand and water play areas swimming pool soft play etc More like Centre Parks setting in but close to several beaches eg Tenby and Folly Farm just down the road great for a day out.

We've booked to go for a weekend at Hobourne Park in Christchurch, Dorset. 2 adults plus 4yo and 1yo.
Been to the town as a couple before but not this site. Lots to do on site as well in the local area.

How about the Norfolk coast? Cromer has arcades etc but then there are also nice beaches like Holkham and Brancaster. At certain times there are seals on the beach at Blakeney and Horsey.

There’s loads to do at Scarborough - Peasholm Park, North Bay Railway, an aquarium, Scarborough Castle, Betton Farm, Scarborough Fair Collection, Alpamere Water Park and Playdale Farm. When we went, there were donkey rides on the beach.

Swanage. But hire a beach hut to save carrying everything about. Train, boat rides, life boat station , pier to walk along , little fair rides, punch and Judy etc, all can be walked to from the beach. Parked the car when we got there and didn't use it again till we went home.
We went once with young children, loved it so much we went back for the next five years. Basic sea side holiday. Shame they are too old now.

North Norfolk.
Hunstanton is a traditional family seaside place. Decent beaches, sandy ones, rock pools etc. arcades, lots for families. Old Hunstanton is lovely - beach and cafe.

Wells is beautiful but the beach is quite a way from the

We love Dorset and often do hoseasons/parkdean. Our favourite is warmwell which has lots for our 4 year old -pool, softplay, kids club, mini golf, roller rink and outdoor activities (plus dry ski slope). Lots of days out local too.

We used to go to the Isle of Wight when ours were little.
They loved Black Gang Chine and the cable car at Alum Bay.

I like Bridlington, 5 miles of golden sands, not too crowded. Donkey rides, arcades, fish and chips on the harbour. A pirate boat ride on the sea. Large swimming pool.

Exmouth in Devon for sure. It was one of the best places we have visited. Beautiful beach, great huge play area, toys for the kids to borrow, ice cream, arcades etc. Really nice town with lovely places to eat. My kids loved it so much.

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/05/2023 06:35

Tenby. DS loved it - beaches, caves, rock pools, an arcade ...

Simplelobsterhat · 15/05/2023 06:38

We love Tenby and saundersfoot with kids - lovely beaches and lots of child friendly days out like zoos and theme parks. But I think pools and play parks would mostly be down to if you chose a holiday park with them. And we don't do arcades a lot, although I think both did have them.

One holiday we had at that sort of age which had loads of stuff like that on the seafront was Goodrington on the outskirts of Paignton - has play areas, arcades, boating lake etc, but then you are just along from Paignton itself with pier, bigger play park etc. We took a boat from Paignton to Brixham, which had the golden hind replica which is fun for kids, and had a lovely day at Paignton zoo. There was also a steam train going past the beach at Goodrington although we didn't get round to going on it. There's Torquay nearby too although we didn't get round to going there in the end.

The isle of wight might also be good. We loved it, exciting to go on the ferry for kids. Where we stayed was probably too rural but from what I saw Ryde and Sandown had a lot of what you are looking for (lovely beach with great play area behind one end of Ryde -Appsley I think.) And there are loads of great child friendly days out on the island - Blackgang Chine, zoos, model village etc.

We loved the IoW so many places to go with DC esp Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine where the tickets last a whole week so you can go after other daily activities

reluctantbrit · 15/05/2023 06:58

Isle of Wight
North Norfolk

TomAllenWife · 15/05/2023 07:07

Highly recommend Bluestone in Pembs

I miss mine being little and loving short breaks here.

Lots of beautiful coastline nearby, little theme parks, farm parks
But lots on site too, we never left

Exmouth in Devon has a lovely beach and kids amusements, water sports etc. attractions nearby etc. can't recommend accommodations because my parents are there.
