Visa for Australia

I am going to Australlia on holiday in September and need to do my visa. I thought I would do it today to get it out of the way and when I looked online it mentioned that you have to pay for a visa. I mentioned this to my travel agent a few weeks ago and she said no you do not pay its completely free .

Either I wait until I can speak to my travel agent tomorrrow or if there is anyone here who knows something about whether they are free or not, I would be grateful and can do it today. I am not concerned about the visa because I have been to Australia before so the visa entry should not be a problem

Thanks

Are you using the immi home affairs website linked to yesterday? That is definitely free.

I don’t remember having to upload a photo of my passport. Just the details. I go to see friends but usually just put holiday or tourism which it is.

If you are likely to go again within a year you could wait and do your visa in a few months as they last a year.

This. There is no fee OP. It's free. I am not sure which visa you have applied for that is asking for you to pay a fee, but it's the wrong one.

Well I just spoke to a man in the visa department and he said it is the 651 I need to apply for and it is free and the you have to submit a scan of your passport and also your proof of booking of the holiday

Just rang the visa Department for Australia and the man on the phone said you definately have to scan the front page of your passport and attach it to your application and also send in the travel details from the travel agent. He works for the Department so he would not advise me wrongly. He also said i should fdill out the 651 application for it to be free. He also got me to read out the web address that I was using and when I read it out he said it was the correct one

Well that’s good. I can’t believe you found it so complicated though.

Passport upload is a new requirement of a 651 visa as of 2023.
