Girls trip to Mallorca, Rain predicted everyday!!

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone is in Mallorca at the moment?

I’m going to Alcudia Beach on Thursday for 5 days and the weather app is saying it’s going to rain every day!😩 it’s my first holiday in 4 years so I’m feeling gutted!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what it’s like there at the moment? And maybe suggest places to go and things to do if it does rain rain every day? It’s a girls holiday with no kids.

Many thanks x

Or you could ring the hotel

tanstaafl · 13/05/2023 08:03

Don’t know if they’re still a thing but are there any live hotel/resort cams in the resorts in Majorca?

LaDamaDeElche · 13/05/2023 08:10

I live on the mainland, so don't know if it's different with the islands, but on the mainland constant rain for days is very unusual, except in the north which is colder. Usually it's spells of rain broken with sunshine. I've been to Ibiza and this was certainly the case there.

TiredandLate · 13/05/2023 08:13

The weather seems to be the same in Italy and France too, loads of people are posting about bad weather on fb travel groups that I'm in. I'd be gutted too OP, but hopefully it's a few showers with sun in-between.

It’s too soon to predict.

Oh no… was it the BBC Weather app? We’ve just been away to Turkey and before going it showed rain every day which made me really grumpy. Needless to say, the app was wrong and the weather was actually quite good. There was also one day where it was brilliant clear blue sky and I looked at the BBC app which said it was overcast and raining at that same time….

PinkButtercups · 13/05/2023 08:22

It's too early to tell.
When we went to Majorca we had rain for one day and it was an absolute down pour if it too. Within the next hour it was bright and sunny again!

These replies are making me feel better, Thank you x

You know what op .. you will still have an amazing time (though it would be a pity)

I hope you have a great holiday and have a cocktail or two

bestbefore · 13/05/2023 08:28

I don't know where you are on Majorca but you can get a tram to soller, nice day out from palma www.abc-mallorca.com/soller/

fourelementary · 13/05/2023 08:31

There are cave trips that would be fine on a rainy day.
And I’d guess bars for cocktails in between showers would also be fine.
Maybe plan a water park trip for the worst weather day and then you’re wet anyway!
Hope it’s not as bad as predicted.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 13/05/2023 08:33

I’m in Barcelona at the moment and the weather is ‘disappointing’.

Rainydaysgetmedown · 13/05/2023 08:33

If the weather isn’t good then you can explore a bit. Old alcudia town is beautiful and so is pollensa town. It’s a bit of a drive / bus or taxi from alcudia but if all else fails go to palma for the day. It’s a wonderful city

whiteroseredrose · 13/05/2023 08:34

Not the same location but when we went to Iceland a few years ago BBC weather app predicted rain every day and it didn't rain once. Fingers crossed for you.

Oneglassisnotenough · 13/05/2023 08:35

It was hailing there yesterday. My DH is over there for work. A few weeks back it was nice. At the moment not so much- apparently the locals are saying it’s most unusual for this time of year.
Hopefully it’ll be better by Tuesday. Hope you have a great time, x

PinkSkiesAtNight · 13/05/2023 08:42

I live in Mallorca. At the moment, it is a bit grey. But yesterday was supposed to be the same and it was beautiful by the afternoon. Don't give up hope!

There's lots to do, especially if you have a car.

With a car, I'd suggest
Day trip to Palma,
Sóller as PP said
Caves at Porto Cristo
Valldemossa/Deia

Otherwise,
Pollenca isn't far, by bus
Alcudia has a small, but pretty old town

There's always just chilling out in nice cafes/restaurants and enjoying the time relaxing with your friends.

It can definitely change, so don't worry too much. I've got my fingers crossed too as it's MallorcaLive music festival next weekend.

Either way, enjoy the island!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 13/05/2023 08:45

We went to Mallorca in May when the DC were small for two weeks. With the exception of 2 days it rained, and I mean rained, solidly. That was a boring holiday!

Probably not want you want to hear OP, but not that uncommon apparently. Fingers crossed the forecast changes by next week for you OP.

Harkonen · 13/05/2023 08:50

I love Mallorca. That's it really.

BendingSpoons · 13/05/2023 08:54

Eek I'm worried about this. We are going in half term and the weather has been poor. We had a rainy week in May half term as a child, so I knew it was a possibility, but it was £1.5k more for August so we are risking it!

Hoping for isolated showers and sunny spells!

CoronationKicking · 13/05/2023 09:14

"Maybe plan a water park trip for the worst weather day and then you’re wet anyway!"

Don't do that, they close all the slides in rain! 😂

dottiedodah · 13/05/2023 09:25

The BBC website seems to be somewhat inaccurate! May be check with hotel/Spanish weather sites .Fingers crossed they are wrong ,but you still have 5 days with mates to chill,go shopping , swim in indoor pool ,have nice food and so on.Unlikely to rain non stop ,so beach (A few hours is enough for me) You can have a nice plane ride, read a boo and generally relax!

gymwars · 13/05/2023 09:26

BBC says chance of showers every day but if you look hour by hour it looks like plenty of sunny spells as well. It's always dry in the bar!
