hi, organising a long weekend with girl friends to brighton (YIPPEE!!!!) in the summer and need to find a cool hotel to stay in for fri, sat and poss sun nights.
not stupidly expensive but want to have a bit of luxury! any reccomendations? dh went a couple of yrs ago and stayed in one but its reputation clearly precedes it as its fully booked for whole summer!

any links or names of places greatfully received! and/or places to go/ clubs /spas/cafes/shops whatever when we get there thank you

Live near Brighton so not sure about hotels, but if you are looking for up market cocktail bar/restaurant then Havana is good bet. I believe the Treatment rooms are a good place to go for treatments, but that is heresay as I haven't been. Momma Cheries (of Gordon Ramsay fame) is good for inexpensive fun food and for shopping head to the Lanes - there is also a really good tapas bar in the Lanes where all the jewellery shops are. Hope that is a little help!

People say Hotel du Vin is good

Haven't stayed there but have eaten lunch

BrummieOnTheRun · 19/02/2008 20:41

Lansdowne Place is a goody. Nice cocktail bar and spa and not too expensive. It's halfway between brighton and hove, and very near the seafront. The rooms are small but nicely done. The food was good, but there are loads of restaurants nearby.

www.laterooms.co.uk has reasonable offers and a full list of brighton hotels by price and availability.

have fun!

Have afternoon tea or pre-dinner cocktails at the Grand (I think it's still open after the fire). I think it's hard to get a decent meal in Brighton - best kept secret is Casalingo Italian restaurant in Preston Street.

ArcticRoll · 20/02/2008 10:45

Good places to eat out:
Terre a terre
Due South
Bill's
Pinxto People

tiredemma · 20/02/2008 11:53

Bills Cafe is the most amazing place in Brighton!!

We go there for brekkie (with Champagne!!)

Get there early though- it really is a great cafe, but tends to get overcrowded at lunchtime.

Pollyanna · 20/02/2008 12:21

Neo hotel is good too.

I expect Hotel du Vin is full for the summer now - but it is very nice, and cocktails there are good.

Pinxto people for jugs of sangria and tapas is nice (and near to the Neo hotel). Second Due South, I also like Food For Friends (cheaper veggie than Terre a Terre).

we have stayed in the hotel du vin. it was nice but the room was quite small. the bar is great. terre a terre is amazing (but don't fill up on the starters like we did!).

belcantavinissima · 24/02/2008 13:02

anyone know what drakes is like? looks lovely on website but not sure where it is- is it quite central? dont want to be having to get taxis here there and everywhere!

theres a great pub just outside of brighton called the blue anchor its in portslade they do the best pub food...

WideWebWitch · 22/03/2008 20:21

I stayed at Drakes recently, it's v nice BUT noisy as main road outside and the doors in between the bedroom and loo have a gap in them so it was fine for me alone (needed a night of relaxation in December, had a circular sea room) but it would have spoiled it for me romance wise had dh been there.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 22/03/2008 20:46

Hotel Una is lovely

Restaurant wise, I highly recommend Mama Cherri's Soul Food Shack.

Brighton Life is great for any Brighton info!
