Borneo or Sumatra?

I'm supposed to be going to Singapore with DH and DD to visit his relatives in February. We normally fly somewhere else for a week as its cheap if you book one of the low cost airlines. I want a change and to go Borneo or Sumatra I've always loved watching those places on the TV. I recognise its probably not possible to see the Sumatran tiger in one week but it would be lovely just to see any wildlife so I'm open to both islands.

Can anyone make any recommendations of where I should start researching? I don't think I'm going to book a tour company as I feel confident doing DIY for most things obviously not any jungle treks!!!

Suggest Lonely Planet or similar book or look at itinearies from Explore Exodus etc but they tend to pack a lot in - this is what I did when I visited Sarawak and Sabah recently - with a week I suggest you stick to one of these districts - I found Sepilok possibly the best base in terms of choice of decent accommodation and options for seeing wildlife ie Orang Utangs. Most places also offer options for one or two nights stays in Kinabatangan river all in - to see monkeys crocodiles etc in their natural habitat
