Holiday with 5 yo and grandparents

Still not booked a summer getaway, so looking for inspiration please for a week in July / Aug. Would consider anywhere in Europe as want to keep flight time down.

It will be me, 5 year old and grandparents (DH working).
Grandparents are foodies, not great walkers and would want good food, shops, city sights within easy reach.

5 yo wants a beach and kids activities.
Not self catering as no one wants to cook and clean! Looking for half board with good quality buffet/dining.

Need to keep everyone happy. Budget would stretch to £3-4k given the time of year and possibly need for 2 rooms.

Please give me some ideas. TIA

I have no idea about budget but how about the South of France? Somewhere like Villefranche-she-mer just outside Nice would be nice for a 5 year old but very easy access on the bus/train into Nice and also to Monaco and lots of other places.

Sorry, just saw your comment about self-catering! Might not work, in that case.

How about somewhere near Lisbon, on the coast there? We stayed in cascais which is a lovely little town, trains into Lisbon, great food and beaches for kids. We stayed air b and b but I'm sure there would be more resort type hotels in that area
