Hi

Any suggestions of a sightseeing itinerary based on the following please? kids 13 and 15

Day 1: arrive Berlin airport early evening, stay near east side gallery
Day 2: full day sightseeing
Day 3: leave backpack in hotel and sightseeing before picking up backpack and leaving by train from the central station at 6pm

Wanting to get an overall taste of Berlin - brief overview visits to cities tend to suit my family .

My dd is doing gcse history and the 2 night school trip she can’t make includes the wall, checkpoint charlie, cold war museums and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp - not sure if we’d fit in all of those in our independent trip?

Don’t need to do lakes/parks as will get enough of that in Munich. A quick look at museums I like the look of the DDR museum

thank you

Go to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe near to Unter den Linden instead of Sachsenhausen. Should leave enough time for Checkpoint Charlie and the bits of the wall still extant (near Nordbahnhof I'd suggest, gives you a feel for how wide 'no man's land' was).

Go to the Brandenburg gate, site of speeches and rallies. We loved the Holocaust memorial and also booked a tour of the Parliament building - has to be done in advance for security reasons. Bits of the wall everywhere but a good bit by Checkpoint Charlie with a display. Berlin is fab. Enjoy.

We did a walking tour, that started from Brandenburg gate and we saw bits of the wall, Checkpoint Charlie, the Jewish memorial a pp mentioned plus loads of other stuff. This was one of the free walking tours and what they earn is what they are tipped - so they are very incentivised to make it interesting

I was in Berlin last week. Can recommend the Stasi museum.

The tour of the Reichstag was better than I expected and the views from the roof terrace were amazing. The Topography of Terror exhibition is really interesting too.

DDR museum definitely worth going to, have a look at the topography of terrors, museum about uprising of the nazi’s in Germany. Bradenburg gate is worth seeing.

DDR Museum would fit well with what you have put. it is well located for seeing other things. If you really have a full day and most of the next day before travel it is best I think to stay in the city. Range more if you revisit.

Hi, I got an amazing itinerary from Chat GPT.

I would agree with Topography of Terror. Also Reichstag was good - you need to book it. DH and DS did a walking tour but said the man talked too much so they missed some stuff!

Love Berlin. Book the Reichstag now. Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall, Topography of Terror, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial.
Restaurant 1990 Vegan Living is on outskirts but the Vietnamese food was one of the best meals we've had on all our city travels.
