Footloose and fancy free - is there a flights website that does what I want?

Hi lovely Mumsnetters

I am in the fortunate position of being retired and having some spare time and money. I am a widow with no responsibilities and am looking to start life again after a very difficult few years.

I am free pretty much anytime and I can travel from where I live to around 10 UK airports fairly easily.

I am looking for a website that shows me all the bargain cheap flights at any time, to anywhere but I can’t find one. Everything I look at wants you to specify some combination of where you want to go to, where you want to fly from or when you want to go.

I want something that lists flights along the lines of ‘Seville is £25 return if you fly out next Wednesday from Birmingham coming back on Sunday’ or ‘Malta is £19.99 return flying out Monday from Southampton, back on Wednesday’ without me having to provide any criteria.

Any suggestions for where I can find this info online?

google flights is quite flexible as it can have changeable parameters including flexible dates, costs and flexible destinations as well as specific destinations.

in the destination box, you can just put "europe" for example to bring up all flights in europe

Sky scanner - you can search for ‘everywhere’ very easily 😊

Rome2rio is very useful for when you get there.

If you are interested in a cruise, talk to a cruise agent and they can monitor last minute deals for you, a friend paid £299 (from Southampton) for a week with 2 days notice earlier this week.

Skyscanner.net does exactly what you've asked for.

You can specify "United Kingdom" as the departure airport (it will show all options in the results list) and "Everywhere" as the destination.

For example - you could fly to Aarhus in Denmark from Stansted next week (Sat-Sat) for £38 return.

Or to Salzburg for £98 return from Stansted with Ryanair, or £125 return from Gatwick with Easyjet.

Good question - I used one end of 2019 and we ended up in Malta. You could put in your departure airport (important for me), type of holiday, dates, etc. and get suggestions, which also included typical accommodation prices. Of course I can't find this site now.. maybe it isn't around any more.

Scroll down for all countries.

What an exciting situation to be in! Congratulations :) Jacks Flight Club offers exactly what you're describing, though it costs £15 every three months. They send through deals for flights leaving on a certain date to any location in the world, from business class 12 day trips to weekends in Europe (they call those "snacks"). If you don't mind paying for the service, then that should be perfect.

Lots of great suggestions, thanks! I tried sky scanner today and it’s close but doesn’t quite do what I want in that it gives a couple of high level suggestions (e.g Spain from £40) but you then have to click through again to find where in the country and then go back to try the next country plus some say ‘check prices’. I would like a single list view rather than clicking up and down levels of detail.

Jack’s flight club sounds interesting as does the last minute cruise idea. I must try Google flights too but I have been good today and have had my head down doing my tax return (they owe me money, I need to pay for the flights!)

Sky scanner.

You can search by "explore" to see what is available, by any country, region, dates etc
