Affordable adult-only hotels in Europe?

Looking to book a relaxing solo week away in Jan/Feb 2024, somewhere in Europe or short-haul that will have mild weather around then, thinking Canary Islands. But all adult-only hotels seem to be very luxury and expensive? (Poor adults would like relaxing, child-free holidays too?!)

Ideally would like to spend under £1k on accommodation for the week. Any recommendations? I'm terrified of booking cheap package deals after two total disaster package holidays, including a few years ago when me and an ex ended up in an actual hotel from hell despite doing loads of research and looking carefully at reviews etc.

Might be cheaper to book as a package. Jet2holidays are showing around £1100 for one person for a week in January, B&B, flights, luggage and transfer, with a very cheap HB upgrade, so you could probably get away with not spending a lot more than that - If I had a big late breakfast and a hotel meal in the evening, I'd not want much for lunch.

It was a really nice hotel, staff and food both great, and the location on the cliffs was beautiful. I booked it through Tui as a package and it cost me just over £900
