Hi there

we are due to go on holiday to Spain this year and I usually sunbathe topless.

this year we are going with my family (my parents, sister and her husband and kids plus my husband and children).

My mum used to sunbathe topless when we were kids and i plan to do the same this year- what people’s thoughts on this?

my husband is fine with it and our kids are totally used to it. my sisters kids are both girls ages 8 and 10.

does anyone think this is an issue?

Red nips at night, shepherds delight. Make
sure you take sun block.

Only ugly people love taking their clothes off on beaches. You never see attractive people on nudist beaches. It's also unhealthy for your chest.

Last few times I’ve been to Spain there were very few topless women - probably less than 5%. Those that were topless tended to be older, 60+. I certainly wouldn’t let my delicate nipples frazzle in the Spanish sun!

I live in Spain and virtually all of the locals here don't bother with tops on the beach. Not on 'nudist' beaches, it's just normal.

But then we tend to avoid tourist areas, and our nipples are out 'frazzling' all the time, so perhaps they're used to it!

I wonder if all the people on here talking about how unhealthy and bad for you it is are equally as concerned for the health of male nipples they see on the beach? Should we start a campaign to get men to cover up? For their health, of course...

No issue at all to me, even more so if you and your sister are both comfortable.

As for men, where it would be unacceptable for a woman to be topless it should be the same for men.

Do people actually sunbathe anymore anyway? Risk of skin cancel etc I never just sit in the sun any more always shade. I'm still bronzed every summer from sitting in the shade. What an odd thing to want to do

What is the actual point in sunbathing topless? Genuine question. Why is it better than sunbathing in a strapless bikini? What's the point in getting your chest tanned when it's super unhealthy? Plus it's really tacky. Just like you never see attractive people go to nudist beaches, it's never a very pretty sight to see topless sunbathers

It is less popular than it was in previous years except for the old German and Scandinavian women 😁

Purplesilkpyjamas · 03/06/2023 14:36

Why do you have to do this?

LillteSwim · 04/06/2023 12:16

It’s a way of life isn’t it. People are going to be for and against this. My mother was topless sunbathing when we were kids and both my sister and I sunbath topless with our kids, brother in law and anyone else. No one is offended we are aware not everyone is as comfortable with sunbathing topless. As others said it’s no different to men having their tops off 🙄.

my kids are happy and don’t know any difference equally so are my nieces and nephews. Don’t knock it before you try it

I applaud all body positivity but simply don't understand the post, as you seem to have already made your mind up to do it, and gauged your family be comfortable with that. All that's left to do is unclasp which you don't need mumsnet for.

If you're not sure about it then why not just follow your sisters lead?
