Can only go for 5 nights at the beginning of June so need a quick and easy transfer.

Looking for somewhere off the beaten track - to just chill. Don’t need bars - just a couple of local Tavernas.

Plan to walk, swim, read, sleep.

Any ideas?

Following 😊

Katelios, in Kefalonia, on the south east coast.

Direct flight from Gatwick.

Katelios is a small fishing village, with a string of tavernas, and a handful of shops, along the beach. Although it's a popular resort, it's quiet - no stag/hen parties, discos, karaoke etc.

Does it have to be an island? The Peloponnese is very authentic. Ermioni is a beautiful small town, accessible by ferry from Athens/Piraeus, or a couple of hours’ driving. Some nice self catering options.

I loved kefalonia too, it was so unspoilt when I went there 20 years ago

Fivemoreminutes1 · 05/05/2023 13:09

Skiathos

snafali · 05/05/2023 15:02

Unfortunately unspoilt Greek Island & accessible are mutually exclusive.

I agree try the Peloponnese

No doesn’t have to be an island - just v low key rural beach type place - can you recommend anywhere in this area?

Thassos?

Bigpinktrain · 05/05/2023 17:04

Sifnos is great, Gerry ride from Athens

Bigpinktrain · 05/05/2023 17:04

Ferry ride **

Doggymummar · 05/05/2023 17:05

Parga

HairyFarnbarn · 05/05/2023 22:08

Spetses is a short ferry ride from Athens. No cars. Very quiet. Good food, lovely beaches.

midsomermurderess · 06/05/2023 16:35

Parga and Skiathos get very, very busy. Spetses is a good call. Not too long a ferry ride over from Piraeus and you can also visit a few nearby islands. It is popular with very wealthy Athenians though.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/05/2023 16:38

Hydra is lovely and upmarket and traffic free -1 hour 15 fast at from Athens, stony beaches though - lovely harbour

Take a look at Vasilikos in Zakinthos.

That was my actual inspiration - went there 22 years - loved the rural restaurants and simple sandy paths to little beaches - hope it’s still the same

@Muppetshair we went there around 8 years ago. We also loved Chrani in Peloponnese.

CallieQ · 08/05/2023 00:57

We last went to Zakythos around 8 years ago and that part of the island was still pretty quiet from when we visited.

We didn’t stay there though; we tend to stay in Alikes which is further north, which we love. Might be a it too noisy for you though as there is a street of taverns/bars/restaurants so a bit more busy than you describe; though still fairly chilled and quiet.

Limni Kerri the other side of the island is pretty small and quiet too.

Obviously avoid Laganas like the plague 🫣

I would also second Kefalonia if you like Zakynthos. Although again where we stayed was prob too busy for you, there are lots of quieter spots.

Naxos. Flight to Athens then and east hop on a plane to the island. It's heaven. Quiet and beautiful and the food is incredible (and I've been to quite a few other islands). It's small, the beaches are jaw dropping and it's just a really special place.

Crikeyalmighty · 08/05/2023 18:45

@Shannith yes that's an excellent one too
