Mykonos for 1 night

Hi!
I'm flying into Mykonos this Summer to catch a ferry to a Greek island for 10 days.
Looked affordable initially, until I realised I will need to spend one night in Mykonos to catch a ferry the next day as all the ferries are in the morning .
Mykonos accommodation is way above our budget. Does anyone have any ideas for accommodation and one day's activities on a shoestring, please? We are a couple with two teenagers.

There probably is some cheap accommodation,
especially near the airport or ferry port and if you are ok with unglamorous, but it just may not be listed on places like booking.com as they charge a fee. Try searching these areas on google maps for “1 star hotel” and see what comes up?

Are you sure there’s nothing on Booking.com or AirBnB? We liked this place but it might be a bit expensive depending on time of year.

If you have a few hours just explore the main town. A whole day you could go to Delos.

Good point! Let me have a go with that. I've booked the cheapest I could find on Booking.com, but I would definitely like to go cheaper. I had searched for hostels, and they were coming up just as expensive!

I've booked the cheapest I could find on Booking.com. My only other fear is that they could cancel on us if someone needs a longer stay. In which case, we'll probably have to sit in a bar all night!

We’ve done the same several times (caught ferry to Syros or Tinos) and stayed at Hotel Spanelis. The owner, Helena, will collect you from the airport and drop you off at the port. https://www.spanelishotel.com/

You might want to choose somewhere that includes transfers from the airport and to the ferry because taxi fares on the island are crazy. When you take this into account, hotels that offer a transfer service can become very good value.
