DH has a big birthday over new year... we have been thinking about going on a holiday to celebrate this year but struggling to pin point exactly where would be best! We will have our 3 year old with us.

Long or short haul, anybody any suggestions?

I've spent NYE in a few different counties, it depends if you want busy or calm.
For bright and busy : New York or Sydney
For calm and chilled : Sri Lanka (Galle or Nuwara Eliya), Maldives or Iceland (ice hotel or artic circle)

My favourite was Sri Lanka waking up to the mountains and going for a hike up Adam's Peak.

Depends what you like of course, but with a small baby would you be able to see the new year in anyway. Our go to for enjoyable atmosphere is Madeira where they have warm weather, scenery to die for and fantastic fireworks at NY. Loads of places to eat out and people watch. Not for everyone though

I second Madeira. Specifically Funchal. The climate is wonderful and they love any excuse for a spectacular firework display.

Was just about to recommend Madeira too - I know a lot of people who have done it and apparently fireworks are spectacular - oh, and it's warm. This is on my hit list too!

Cuba. They know how to party and it’s a very welcoming place. Have had two very happy new years there.
