I'm trying to find a flight to USA (S.Francisco) for an unaccompanied 15 year old for the last two weeks of August. Everything I have found is so, so expensive 😲.
The cheapest so far is flying with Virgin for £920.

I am now realising I have left it too late to book at a reasonable price. 😟 Is there a recommended website to browse? Are there any tips or tricks of finding a cheaper deal?

1 child. 1 bag in the hold. No assistance needed, but think it needs to be a direct flight. Can fly from anywhere in the UK.

Any ideas?

I used to use sky scraper, is that still going?

Sadly flights are just v expensive at the moment. Try the Google flight website. Sometimes a return can be cheaper than a single - even if you don’t use the return flight.
a friend was quoted 4000 Cad for 4 ppl (2 adults, 2 children to fly Vancover to Uk

I was excited by Skyscanner initially. It suggested £785 for the return price. But clearly once you phone up you realise the prices aren't actually the real prices.

There was even a deal for £606, but sadly didn't include any luggage.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much at this point, but do you have access to a VPN like Surf Shark or Nord VPN? Sometimes, just sometimes, you can get shown cheaper flights by changing the country where your IP address is based, you might need to play around with locations a bit though.

I would recommend ringing an agent, such as cheap flights/the flight centre. When I flew to the USA they got me a flight cheaper than I could book myself online (not sure how)

I use ASAP travel or Fareboom when I've left it a bit too late.

Thanks. Have just checked the online ones, but nothing new coming up. Waiting for a call back from the flight centre.

United wanted nearly £500 to take a checked in bag 😲

Have you looked at Norse? Looks like it is about £750 with luggage although that is for an adult. Not sure what their policy is re minors.

I've always found Kayak very good for searching flight options, it has good filters and the prices are the prices, not false headline grabbers.

Tbh £920 to cross the Atlantic in August is not a bad price.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Lots of new ideas to try.
Have now got it for a out £830 I think, with a couple more things to investigate.
