so I've been talked out of buying hardshell suitcases and have found soft 'it' suitcases.

just wanting to know how sturdy/durable they are

Is that the world's lightest stuff?
Ours has lasted for years

redspottedmug · 02/05/2023 20:21

We have had a couple of medium ones for about 7 years. They get used a reasonable amount, dragged back and forth to uni etc. Still going strong.

TollgateDebs · 02/05/2023 20:22

Ours have been bashed and dragged, wheeled and thrown around and still going strong.

redspottedmug · 02/05/2023 20:22

Although, do It do 4 wheel spinners? I'd only buy that style now, much easier than the 2 wheelers.

I have an It cabin case. It's about 6 years old and still as good as new.

Thelondonone · 02/05/2023 20:24

We have 4 wheel and 2 wheel, much prefer 2 wheel as 4 wheel you lose so much space and the wheels get knocked off.

I have the lightest ones they do in the large and cabin bag, partner has the same. My large case is on its 5th holiday so far, cabin bag 5+ numerous nights away. Durable, affordable and if they do break then they don’t close the earth to replace. 4 wheels are a plus too. I’d you can get the cases that are expandable, my sister has this on an IT luggage lightweight one and I’ll be making that my next upgrade. I’d you’re on a budget primark often sell them for a bit cheaper or matalan

We have one. Bought a cheap IT one, and on its first use the wheel came straight off. They tried blaming us but there was definitely a defect. Tin the end they gave up and sent us a metal framed one (looks like Rimowa) and it’s FAB. My fave suitcase. Has been all over the world.

VariationsonaTheme · 02/05/2023 20:43

We’ve got a couple, one of the light ones and one hard case, both have survived very well for the last eight years.

Thank you for all your feedback, your comments have been extremely helpful. Will be trying out ones from Matalan.

I have two that I've owned for 10 years- one hard shell and one cabin sized soft shell. Love both of them, they've lasted brilliantly (I use them every 4-6 weeks when we visit family so they've had a lot of use!) Would definitely recommend. :)

Precipice · 02/05/2023 21:52

Depends how much you (over)load them. I find that what they call medium (fit about 20kg of normal holiday luggage) last me about 2 years. The small ones that can go as a large carry-on has lasted me at least 5 now, but it gets little use.

LadyWithLapdog · 02/05/2023 21:59

We’ve had the soft cabin ones. Lasted ages, I’d say 7-8 years. The zip sewing got a bit tatty and the zip on one of the front pockets got stuck and it’s now holding books and stuff under the bed. One is still in use. We bought the new 4 wheel ones last Summer. Really pleased with them. When you can only take 8kg, at least 3kg isn’t the weight of the suitcase.

summerisontheway · 02/05/2023 22:02

They are good value and I choose them as I don't want my luggage allowance to be taken up by the case itself. I have found the wheels on the older ones don't always function well when full so would now buy the IT cases with the thicker dual wheels i.e. 8 wheels in all in 4 sets of 2 on one case.

Ours are a fair few years old. Very good brand indeed.
