Copenhagen with young teens

We are going to Copenhagen with 13 and 12 year old boys in May. We have Tivoli and a boat tour on the list but is there anywhere else we should DEFINITELY visit? We will get the Copenhagen card so anything that is included with that would be great. Does anyone have a recommendation? Also I know it’s expensive to eat out but we’d like to have a meal out once a day. Any top tips? Thank you x

You're going to have an amazing time! We went last April with a 9 year old and 7 year old.
My kids are great walkers and public transport is so easy to use - and free with the card.
We did 5 full days and were not bored at all!!
Have a waffle at Nyhavn
See the polar bears at the zoo
Do the canal tour and see the little mermaid on that
Your teens will love the architect centre
Visit christiana freetown
I liked the medical museum, I find stuff like that very interesting
Amalienborg and christensborg - watch the changing of the guards
Planetarium for a movie
Do the maritime museum and kronborg castle together
Walk up copenhill

Don't bother with aquarium or Guinness world records

We went to Christiania - admittedly this was years ago and out of season. But we found very edgy, and not in a good way - and this as people who are usually fine in less well-healed parts of cities.
Generally loved Copenhagen though, and the fattier to the ships too. I remember hot dog vans as selling tasty and affordable food.

Check out the Irish Bar, Just off the main square!

Bit random but look up the the weekend food market in the meat packing district if it still runs. Good food and used to be live music.
If your teens are at all mechanically minded https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DieselHouse is pretty cool.

The Cisterns is an underground exhibition space where the city’s drinking water used to get stored.
I couldn’t tell you what exhibition I saw but the space is really cool!
I loved Copenhagen!

My teens hated Christiana (as did we)and were cross we dragged them there. They are by no means sheltered or precious. It just had a really intimidating and druggy atmosphere. I definitely wouldn’t recommend.

I'd go to Sweden for fun. 40 minutes across the sea to Malmo, which is very pretty.
