Anyone flown American Airlines?

Hey!

So i’m looking at a Multi centre holiday. Booking most of the holiday with British airways.

However we’re booking internal flights through AA (Las Vegas stopping at Dallas for Connection to Cancun)

I’m hugely confused with the baggage information.
Do we get one checked baggage included each?? Or do we have to book and then pay to add them on after? If so how much will be they be?

do we have to pay twice as it’s technically two flights as it isn’t direct?

And finally is 55 minutes connection enough time?
This is obviously all on one ticket so will baggage go straight through to next flight or will I need to collect baggage and re check in ?

Sorry if this sounds silly, we’ve never done a connecting flight or booked through an American company!

It’s not clear what “select” cities and destinations are. Is there a list?

55 minutes is too short in my view. Late ddosrtute could gobble most of this up. 2 hours is more sensible in a big city airport. We always allow 3 these days but the terminals can be quite far from each other. Dallas is not just a small domestic airport! It has 5 terminals.

For your Las Vegas stopping at Dallas for Connection to Cancun flight, even though you change flights in the middle (in Dallas) you just pay one baggage fee, so that's probably around $50 per case.
The only free luggage you get on American is your in-cabin luggage -- a small case and a personal item (like your handbag)..
And while 55 minutes is possible, it is really tight. Two hours would be more comfortable, unless you want to be running across the airport. That said, whenever I have missed a connection, the airline was aware and just rescheduled me for the next flight, so only a small delay.

I don’t think Cancun is on the list! But vegas to Dallas I think is! Ha.

I’ll re look at some more flights with bigger gaps, just incase there’s delays outgoing.

thank you :) $50 isn’t too bad!

Perfect! Looking at the flights from Dallas to cancun they seem pretty often so I don’t think we’d have a big issue grabbing another flight if we did miss it!

I will look for a bigger gap though. I know Phoenix is another popular route in, as is Miami and $50 dollars for baggage isn’t too extortionate.
