3-week winter sun recommendations

I'd like to spend three weeks somewhere warm this winter. It's going to be expensive as I'll be going in mid December. My budget is £10k. I'm looking for amazing breaches and some cultural things to do, plus maybe diving lessons.

I'm torn between the Carribean and Thailand. Barbados would be just about doable on that budget on the west coast and could be well below budget on the south coast. I've heard that south coast isn't as nice though. Also organising a long stay independently would probably mean taking out good insurance for flight cancellation.

Thailand seems to have more great options below budget.

What would you do? Should I also consider other options?

You should have holiday insurance that includes diving full stop. I’m not sure I would just stay in a hotel on my own. I would much rather do something a bit more active with a group. Are there singles holidays where you learn to sail and dive? I’ve not checked it out but I know you need a Padi dive centre.

My suggestion would be go for less time but see if you can get to the Galápagos Islands. You can learn to dine here first. At least you will have an amazing time on a boat!

Thailand’s would be really good for 3 weeks, I did 1 week in Cambodia and 2 in Thailand which could be an option. You could Travel around and have a week of cultural activities maybe a few days in Bangkok and then head south and do the beaches. I know a lot of people do their PADI diving in Thailand, so great for that. I haven’t been to the Caribbean, but I would imagine there would probably be more to do in Thailand. Flights have gone up quite a bit since once’s you’re there it’s pretty cheap.

I’d also go for Thailand, you could hop over to Cambodia and so some cultural stuff.
If not I’d go to a few different Caribbean islands. Cuba perhaps?

Definitely definitely Thailand. Especially if you want culture and to dive.

Check the weather patterns although I believe December is pretty good in most areas of Thailand at that time. I’m envious!
