Bulkhead seats on Virgin to LA?

Has anyone flown longhaul on Virgin and not managed to get bulkhead seats? I will have a 3yo and 10 month old and can't bear the thought of not getting the bulkhead+ bassinet thing!! Can anyone reassure me?! Also would it be recommended to take my 3 yr olds' car seat for the plane?

I've always had bulkhead seats when needed.

Car seat won't be worth it as they have to be approved for use in planes - chances are yours won't fit. DSs have always been perfectly happy (ie not complaining!) in the ordinary seats as they can move about.

We did not get bulkhead despite requesting confirming and arriving at airport 3 hours early. DD was only 12 weeks old at the time and we were told that the bassinets are allocated to the youngest babies first...turns out ours was the youngest. When I pointed this out to Virgin in UK, they blamed it on customer services call centre being based in India. [hmm}

Virgin don't allow car seats at all - the only ailrline not to do so. However - check with them as it might have changed.

On return flight we did get a bassinet (different country and much better service)and it was great as it was the type with straps so you don't have to take little one out everytime the seatbelt light comes on.

Good luck
