Any good suggestions for a 60th birthday destination? We’ll go with two grown up kids and one of their partners.

Either in February or March!

Give us a clue ! What does birthday boy/girl like doing?
Interests, hobbies, etc ? Looking for sunshine, food ?

Good food - Bologna ... I took DH there foe his 60th in February. The weather was fine, but there are porticos everywhere so you dont get too wet even if its not.. stay in the old town near the university and be prepared to walk.. The old food market is fab .... loads to see and fab shopping too !
DH took me to Florence for mine , also fab and fab for foodies .. but more crowded...( It was December but apart from one day we had good weather there also )

Bologna is a place you really need to walk to see everything...
Recently we went to Cadiz and Jerez also great especially if you like fish and sherry!

Florence..my favourite. Also loved Rome.
Dubrovnik was great but possibly too cold

We loved Salzburg. They have a shallow river. I can't remember it's name but they have wide boats that you can ride on and they play waltzing music and the boat spins around on the river like it is dancing to the music. DH took me for my 50th. Theres a lot to do, a castle, Trick gardens. You can buy a Salzburg card that lasts for 72 hours and once you have it you get free access to about 40 attractions and bus travel all over the city. I've been to lots of towns in Italy, France and Spain but Salzburg was definitely my favourite holiday.

Impossible to suggest without knowledge budget!!

Wiennetta · 27/04/2023 08:32

Really depends on budget and how long you’d be going away for (i.e are you thinking about europe or long haul?) Other than somewhere with nice weather and food, is there anything else you’re after?

I wanted to take DH to Bologna for his birthday in January, but couldn't find flights & hotels that were suitable. A lot of City Breaks aren't available in the colder months.
