BA e-vouchers - they won't let me apply them to my booking! Help!

We had a holiday cancelled because of covid. BA wouldn't refund but issued e-vouchers.

In January I booked a holiday with them, didn't have the vouchers to hand so paid a deposit to secure the booking, planning to apply the vouchers & make up the rest of the cost at a later date.

Now they are telling me I can't do that!

The cost of the holiday has gone up by over £1,000 so I can't cancel & rebook.

They have had my money for 3 years but will neither return it or apply it to my booking. How is this allowed??

Any ideas what I can do???

Have you tried calling up? They can probably help you over the phone

I could have written this!
The only part of the holiday you can use the vouchers for assuming they were a flight refund is the flights. Absolutely nothing else. I went through this rigmarole a couple of months ago and BA do not give a toss.

Double check you aren't entitled to an actual refund now.
We weren't because the flight that was cancelled actually flew, (we wouldn't have been allowed on it, but hey ho!), so they wouldn't give us a refund.

However if your actual original flight was cancelled then they should now refund you your money to the original payment card, even if they've already issued you an E-voucher. (I applied via their online form for the refund)

I ended up losing the deposit and rebooking and paying for just the flights with the voucher. Then booked an Airbnb for accommodation.
You can't use it for paying for a package in any way.

Also just so you know the voucher can be used by other people you just need to give them the voucher details and the email address associated with it, they could then transfer you the money.

I believe someone took them to court over the shit show that is
this situation and won but obvs I suspect like me you have neither time nor inclination

It's bloody frustrating and you have my sympathies!

UPDATE Hope this helps someone else!

So apparently an email to the CEO is the trick.
[email protected]
Within 24 hours I was called by a very helpful customer service bod who is giving me a refund, despite the fact that like @Pashazade I was initially told I was not eligible because we cancelled, not them.

I also emailed Rip Off Britain with & got a call back because they are looking into this, so that might also be worth a punt.

I believe these vouchers had an expiration date....

Well done @MothershipG, I was so hacked off with the whole thing, having spent ages figuring out where to go and when and which hotel etc etc I couldn't be arsed with going that far. Pleased you got your money back!
