Heathrow strikes next weekend? What to do?

I’m supposed to be flying on BA from LHR terminal 5 on 5 May, and back on 9 May… both dates potentially have LHR security staff strikes planned…

What will happen if my flights are cancelled? When will I know? What are my rights? How much notice will I get? And why haven’t BA been in touch or put anything about these strikes on their website etc?? I called BA on Saturday and he just read out my flight details back to me and said there was no info on strikes. He said I’d be told within 24 hours of the flight, which seems ridiculous and gives travellers no time to make alternate arrangements!

I have a hotel booked directly (it’s a mini break I have been dreaming about and saving for for over a decade so I’m gutted it’s at risk), and the hotel is non refundable but I have emailed them today to ask them what my options would be should my flights be cancelled… I’m hoping they’ll let me rebook new dates.

Anyone know anything more?? I wish I could just look forward to it without thinking it’ll all
get cancelled once I’m packed and ready to go, and £800 poorer due to non refundable hotel ☹️

All you can do OP is get there in plenty of time to get through. For peace of mind check your insurance to see if you're covered. They've had lots of notice, there will be staff from other terminals to spread around, I wouldn't assume the worst.
