Porto recommendations

Off to Porto in a few weeks and looking for recommendations for restaurants and more importantly a port tour!

All we have planned so far is Zenith for brunch one day. I've seen some port tours on Airbnb that visit a few different lodges with good reviews but it's always good to get personal recommendations if anyone has any. We are there for 3 night and it's my birthday whilst we are there so looking for somewhere a bit more special one night (budget up to £50pp for food). In terms of what we will eat then anything really, although neither of us are too bothered about seafood. Come to think of it bar recommendations would be good too Grin

Any other tips/recommendations welcome, thanks!

We stayed at Ponte de Ferro and ate in their restaurant which overlooked the bridge. Food was very good and I had said it was my birthday and we got free sparkling wine and free cake and the best table. I did had fish but there were plenty of options on the menu, can also reserve table via TheFork which gives discounts. All the staff wished me a happy birthday, was very well looked after. Even gave me a birthday candle. 😂I think menu was online. My dessert there is Poire Belle Helene.

You can do a self guided audio tour at Taylor's, which is up behind WOW - you don't need to book. Otherwise, the big names are Sandeman, Calem, Grahams, Dow etc. I think Taylor's and Graham's both have restaurants?

If I remember correctly there is a bar on the riverfront that does a flight of port (5 different varieties to try) for 5 euro.

WOW is worth a wander through, and has some nice restaurants - we stumbled across T&C there and ate on the terrace for the DCs to try francesinhas:

If you like steak then DH has been to RIB Beef and Wine restaurant at the Pestana Porto hotel a couple of times and is always happy to go back there.

This place is amazing for steak www.muusteakhouse.com/ but you'll definitely need to book.

I second Muu. We ate there our first night and no where else we ate came close. The port tour and tasting at Grahams was also fabulous. We only came across WOW on our last day so just had a drink but if we went back I’d be keen to do lunch on the rooftop.

Overall we found it very affordable for eating and drinking and spent a lot of time people watching outside the bars and restaurants along the river.

Spending the afternoons sat outside bars people watching was our plan but sadly weather not looking to great at the mo Sad. I really hope the forecast changes as this is our only trip this year.

Thanks for recs!
