Collecting items from Boots at the airport

Planning to do an order of baby milk, some nappies, some wipes etc from Boots to collect when we travel. My only concern is the baby milk - has anyone ever had issues in items not arriving? Is it genuinely that easy that you can order as much stuff as needed and pick it up in bags to carry onto the plane?!

Flying from Stansted to Menorca if that's relevant with Jet2.

I also want to do this manchester to faro and I'm a bit twitchy because Iv never done it before.

I've done it but you need to make sure it fits in your hand luggage as it count's towards it. So you can't have your boots parcel plus your airlines allocated luggage allowance.

@JessieJoJames ok thanks that's useful as the way people have told me / I've understood it was that it was in addition like other carrier bags of duty free are.

In which case I won't bother with this as will just pack what I need! With 2 children (one under 2 so no seat) I was just hoping to save some space nappies / forumla etc.

@JessieJoJames I don't think it is classed as duty free. I think if it was BA long haul or something you might be able to swing it but if it is a low cost earlier who are super strict about hand luggage, then it would class as a extra bag.

We were at the airport last week and there was lots of people pulled aside that got pulled up for having extra bags and had to pay.

I’ve done it for liquids when I was just travelling with hand luggage and it was amazing. Left space in my hand luggage so I could just slot them in. Only issue was the embarrassment of collecting 3 big boxes at the counter and unboxing in front of everyone!

lazysummer · 21/04/2023 23:41

In my experience it has always been allowed in addition to baggage.

Identifyingasadolphin · 21/04/2023 23:58

If this helps anyone else - with EZY you are allowed an additional bag of “things you have purchased at the airport”

This prob won’t help if you are with Ryanair or Jet 2 - but well worth checking the smallprint online. (It’s in their interest to encourage people to spend money at the airport for the stores to survive)

I’ve done this before and it’s worked fine- the last time I did it (last year), it was allowed in addition to my hand luggage as it always has been so double check that.

I’ve also always ordered for a couple of days before we’re due to go, so when I get the confirmation email that it’s ready to collect I know everything is in there. Nothings ever been missing but that way if it is, it gives me a couple of days to sort something else out because they keep it for 14 days (I think?) after the collection date.

Oh and I flew with jet2

MartinFowler · 22/04/2023 08:13

I've always carried the boots bag on as extra to my hand luggage. No problems

summerlovingvibes · 22/04/2023 23:03

Ok thanks all, I'll read the small print and potentially go for it ... cross the bridge of trying to fit it inside hand luggage if it comes to it! In the past when I've flown I've always carried on a bag from say WHS smith of sandwiches / snacks / drinks and not had an issue, but just didn't know if a HUGE boots bag would be a no no. I'll try to minimise what I need anyway, as would rather it be in checked baggage rather than having to carry it. But formula and nappies / wipes are such bulky items!

Give it some extra time, order it to arrive in store a few days before you want to pick it up that way if it's delayed slightly you will still get it in time.
