Car rental in July

hi,
we are looking at hiring a car in July in Italy , ideally 2 weeks .
prices right now for July are at 70 ish £ per day .so it’s coming a to 1000£

for next week it’s 25£ per day .

is the triple rate because of it being July or because it’s 3 months away? Both ?

should I book now ? I’m tempted to wait and see

I never had to pay this much tbh , more 50ish
I had a look with europcar , which I know hasn’t got the best reviews, but I have used it 3 times before and we were fine with them .

happy to take recommendations if anybody knows reliable cheaper companies.

Try Virtuo instead. We hired previously from Milan and it was the same price for a Mercedes A-class from Virtuo, than it was for a fiat 500 from Sixt or Hertz. The nice plus is that you simply unlock their cars with your phone - so you avoid all the stress of going up to a foreign desk where they try to pressurise you into buying insurances etc. The only downside is they're not in all the places the big rental companies are - but they're in a few of the large Italian cities now.
