Punta Cana

Has anyone been to Punta Cana Dominican Republic with kids?
Any tips on places/resorts to stay or places to visit?
Child will be 5 when we (potentially) go.

No but went to another part of Dom Rep, Amber Cove and it was awful , cruise ships full of Americans every other day invading the ‘all you can eat and drink for $50’ hotel we stayed in, drunk, peeing in the pool, loud screaming, cigarette buts left every where… I could go on. The high light of the holiday was going to a Dominican night (food, drink )where we did a quiz and one of the questions was ‘how do you spell diarrhoea’ which was apt because that’s what everyone had the next day. Awful place would never go there again. Ohh forgot went to a nightclub, where the doorman had a machine gun!!!

Went to Puerto Plata and it was absolutely beautiful, people were friendly hotel was gorgeous beaches clean, there were a mix of Americans and English mostly, but didn't see any of the behaviour pp mentioned.
Lots of trips but the roads are very bumpy I think on every journey someone on the coach was getting car sick.

I'd go back, it was my favourite holiday! Nightclub was good too although it was in the complex so no doorman with a machine gun.

Went to the royalton in punta cana and it was amazing, just unreal, and we did quad biking etc

Went to Bahia Esmeralda and loved it

I have just me and DS. The Candians are upbeat, warm and friendly people.

I stated at the Royalton Splash in Punta cana. We did a buggy tour, went into the mountains and watched them make coffee and cigars. We did a pirate boat trip too.

It was excellent true paradise the beach was spotless on par with Negril beaches in Jamaica.

I heard a lot of bad things about DR but personally I prefer it to JA by far. Offers more for kids in terms of a waterpark and child friendly hotel.

We stayed at Paradisus, was nice and great food! 6 years ago though.
