Saltwater pools

Switching this year from usual camping in france to a package holiday. Most of the hotels we are looking at seem to have salt water pools which we've never encountered before. What are these like? I'm imagining water as salty as the sea dumped in a pool? Bit worried as last year, my youngest got a nasty heat rash that would sting if he went in the sea so he spent the whole holiday in the pool instead and that'll be no good if the pool is just as salty.

We had a saltwater pool put in when we lived in Spain. So much nicer than chlorine and kinder to the skin. The villa we rent in Lanzarote also has a salt water pool. If they are balanced correctly it won't be "salty".

I do wonder if there is some confusion on here between salt water and sea water pools. They are two completely different things. A sea water pool will usually be much saltier than a saltwater pool.

First thing I check when looking. If its salt water its a no from me. My children (and me!) do not like it at all.

And I thought I was the only one.
My skin gets very irritated. I'm
Not sure if it's the salt or the combination of salt, sun cream and heat.
I have to be careful swimming in the sea too.
Saltwater pool- I'm out.

Thanks all. Mixed bag of reviews there! Did some research and can see now that it's nowhere near as salty as the sea etc, but knowing my youngest as I do, any slight "sting" or something that feels weirdly different, and that would be him done for the holiday and we'd suffer the same nightmare as others have here of a child that won't use the pool. We kept looking and have found a much better, cheaper, freshwater option, so win win and less risk. Thanks all.
