I fancy going to Lanzarote, I've never been before. There's me, DH, DD18, DD15 and DD7 can anyone recommend anywhere that will cater for everyone?

Not a fan of Lanzarote, I prefer Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura

TheFairyCaravan · 18/04/2023 20:28

Nowhere, it’s awful.

troppibambini6 · 18/04/2023 20:29

Not AI but princess yaiza is nice. It's in Playa Blanca which has a nice little port with some nice restaurants.

CremeEggThief · 18/04/2023 20:32

I love Playa Blanca! Lovely beaches and a promenade for walks to the fort and the lighthouse, lots of bars and café-bars for reasonably priced, food, drink and people watching and cheap public buses to other resorts and Arrecife. You can also book several excursions from there and catch a ferry for the day to Fuerteventura. Enjoy!😍

RIU Paraiso is lovely!

Nowhere, it’s awful.

Not sure where you’ve been but IMHO it’s a wonderful island! Amazing scenery, geology and beaches coupled with great places to stay and wonderful food. Depends on the kind of holiday you want but the AI hotels in Playa Blanca are great for a family holiday. The Gran Tagoro and Iberostar are both fabulous.

We stayed here in October with our DS and his pal www.los-jameos.com/. Food was excellent, rooms nice and plenty of activities. Its a quiet area but you can walk or electric scooter to Puerto Del Carmen.

If your family is active and your budget will stretch to it,

World class facilities, absolutely something for everyone. Enjoy.

Lanzarote is my favourite Canary Island! We’ve only ever stayed in Playa Blanca (less busy imo), but the Island isn’t huge so everywhere is accessible. No idea about hotels as we have had villas, but the volcanic scenery is stunning, there are lots of interesting places to visit including black sand beaches, Timanfaya National Park, Green Caves, markets, water park, busy resorts with all the usual facilities and quieter places if you want to get away from it all. You’ll have a great time!

We stayed here https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/spain/lanzarote/sol-lanzarote-all-inclusive?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=uberall&utm_content=dynamic
it was a bit on the cheap and cheerful side , but clean , lots of food , a ( cold ) pool , and across the promenade from the beach
easy walking around , and we liked walking down to the airport , watching the planes arriving and departing

MajesticWhine · 18/04/2023 21:39

Agee that Princess Yaiza is nice. You can easily walk to nearby shops eg if the teens get bored. There are nice pools and things like paddle tennis. The food is good. I would go back but definitely for no longer than a week. If you like relaxing it's fine.
DH is always banging on about Club la Santa but I haven't been yet.

PeonyFairy · 18/04/2023 21:40

I love Lanzarote.
Puerto Del Carmen is lovely but predominantly self catering.
Playa Blanca would probably suit your family age group.
The Iberostar Lanzarote Park is fabulous. I honestly wouldn't bother with AI though because there are so many lovely restaurants and bars in the town.

fruitypancake · 18/04/2023 21:57

H10 Rubicon Palace - we had a lovely time . Food was good , very nice hotel and on sea front with walk along prom to a beach

Margarita45 · 18/04/2023 22:00

Playa blanca has a water park that might be good for your DCs. We’ve stayed at Sandos Papagayo and Elba before, both were great. Sandos had better food options, Elba had better pool and better location.

In all honesty though, we felt like there wasn’t much for the kids on the island. So have more recently been to GC and Tenerife.

Eyesopenwideawake · 18/04/2023 22:01

A connecting flight to Tenerife.

2catsand2kids · 19/04/2023 05:59

I loved Lanzarote, we’ve stayed at the Rubicon palace in playa Blanca twice and would definitely recommend.

CoolShoeshine · 19/04/2023 19:35

Lanzarote’s actually really nice, I was surprised how much I loved it. It’s not too overdeveloped on the whole. Don’t miss going to the volcano and the lava caves, a unique experience!

notsureconfused · 21/04/2023 23:26

We just got back from Princess Yaiza yesterday. The hotel was nice but we really didn't rate Playa Blanca. It looks quite run down. We ate out at different restaurants every night but didn't have any meals that we were particularly impressed with. We wouldn't go back.

33goingon64 · 24/04/2023 19:50

My top tip: wherever you stay, hire a car and explore the island. It's stunningly beautiful and so easy to drive around. If you stay in a resort and don't leave it you could be anywhere really.

Whichnumbers · 24/04/2023 19:58

RIU Paraiso is lovely!

it is but the rest of the place isn't interesting. the weather in mid June was cooled by the breeze so mid 20s

I preferred Cape Verde as again nothing to do outside of the hotel but somehow the weather was better in June and the staff were better in the tui hotel

Choconut · 24/04/2023 21:52

Playa Flamingo is quieter but a hundred times nicer than Playa Blanca IMO (too Brits abroad for us but still only a walk/electric scooter ride along the promenade away for the bars/restaurants), we stayed in the Tui Blu at Playa Flamingo which was surprisingly good. I agree with hiring a car and seeing the rest of the island, there's lots to see. Timanfaya is a must, all the Cesar Manrique stuff and the Lagomar museum is amazing - like a Bond lair. Teguise is quite nice too to stop off and have some lunch. There's some awful bits too - Puerto Del Carmen I'm looking at you.
