Skopelos / Skiathos / Alonnissos

I have booked 10 days in June, flying into Skiathos. Where should we 'base ourselves' in terms of locations to look for accommodation? Family of 4, DCs are 11 and 8. We like snorkelling, eating, beach going and day trips / walks. Last year we did Paxos and loved it and we tended to walk early evenings / mornings and then spend time on the beach during the day when it was hot. We had a car and travelled all over the island. The kids aren't up for massive hikes but a couple of hours walking is fine. We'd like to see two islands I guess and Skopelos is a definite but we could skip Skiathos other than the transfer unless it's really nice?

Has anyone been and if so what would you recommend?

Thank you so much for sharing - lots to think about - sounds like you had a great time with your family.
I think Alonnisos sounds great actually! Any tips on where to stay?

We stayes in Skiathos at the Skiathos Blu hotel which is high up. We did a range rover trip around the island (with a guide) there was so much to see and hairy roads so glad we did it this way. Skiathos is a really beautiful island with such history, it's good to go with a guide ime.

There are seals at Alonissos but we didn't see them although I bought back a soft toy Grin.

Hi @longshot. Finding accommodation in Alonissos is proving to be more difficult than on the other islands, especially for our price bracket in August!!. You said you would have liked to have stayed in the old town. I have potentially found somewhere but is it too far from the beaches ie is a car necessary and would it suit a 12 and 15 year old in your opinion. We'd be there for 3 nights. Thanks

I think you’d need a car. You can do taxis but probably not that easy. 12 and 15 year old…if they like relaxing In cafes and restaurants and reading then yes. If they want more ‘life’ I would say no. Did you try the Lithea villas? Probably full
in august I guess.
