Will you have a hire car? There's only one small beach in Zadar, Kolovare, I don't recall there being any watersports there.

We stayed in an Airbnb just across the bridge from the old town which was lovely but the rest of Zadar was a bit grim tbh.

We went to quite a few other beaches which were all around an hour or so' drive away but there were no watersports at any of those either i'm afraid!

Perfect! There were some beautiful beaches on the Murter peninsula just south of Zadar - especially Slanica Bay. Beautiful water for swimming! Just remember your water shoes as all the beaches are stoney/pebbles.

Obviously Plitvice Lakes are an absolute must do, stunningly beautiful but soooo busy! Go as late as you can in the day to avoid the worst of the crowds.

Wandering around Zadar of an evening is lovely, so pretty and many great restaurants. 2Ribara was our favourite - absolutely amazing!

Be sure to catch the amazing sunset on the north of the waterfront of the old town where the sea organ plays - it really is something special!

The two islands in front of Zadar are both lovely with awesome beaches and are definitely worth exploring if you have a car.
