Planning a trip to Northern Croatia in September. I'd be interested to hear about your experiences if you've been to Zadar, Zagreb, Split and the National Parks.

Interested to know how easy it is to get about between them without getting a hire car.

Thanks!

Bumping this for you, as I would like to know too!

We've done this minus Zagreb but with a hire car... it was a fair bit of driving tbh. How long were you thinking of going for?

I've been to Krka national park. It's absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. It's about 45 minutes drive from Split. We took a taxi but I'd imagine there are buses.

Zadar is fab, we stayed in a boutique b and b with a pool about two mile from town. We used Uber to get to town which was v cheap. The salutation to the sun and sea organ are fab and the historical parts of town are great. Restaurants were reasonably priced. We went to Nin,Petrcane and Ugjlan island. Did an organised day trip to Plitvice lakes which was brilliant

We didn’t go Zagreb but did the rest last summer. We flew in to Zadar and had a house near Sibenik. The roads are fine and we drove each day to beach and krka falls. There were so many other places better than the national parks and although we enjoyed it, it wasn’t the highlight for anyone.

We did similar last summer - flights to
Zagreb, taxi from airport to city centre then bus to Zadar same day (it took around 6 hours due to traffic). Stayed just outside Zadar in a lovely seaside village, used taxis to get into and around Zadar itself. Booked locally for a boat trip out to the islands and a day trip to Krka National Park. Bus back to Zagreb and then stayed 3 nights there, very easy to get around the city on foot & public transport. Pre-booked taxi back to Zagreb airport for our flight home. All pretty straightforward and such a beautiful place!

This is all very useful thanks.

We're either going for 7 or 10 nights

Zadar was nice enough. Krka was fabulous. Had a hire car though.

Just giving this a little bump. Interested to hear if anyone stayed on these islands too: Zlarin, Dugi Otok and Cres.

Have been island hopping there before but it was a bit anxious trying to catch the right boats and getting in the queue in time!

We had a wonderful holiday there.
Flew into Split. Then stayed on Brno and Korcula. Took ferry back to mainland and stayed just outside Dubrovnik ( a low point, I didn't like it) . Then bus to Perast and Kotor. Kotor lovely but totally overrun by cruise parties, like Dubrovnik.
Then did a week's walking Kotor to Cetinje. Then onto an enormous Lake. Can't remember name.
Train to Zagreb. Which was a very boring journey across the Central European Plain.
Loved Zagreb.
Then by train to Hamburg then home.
