Stoupa in August with teens

I can’t find out much online about boat trips etc. Do you think teens would get bored? They don’t want
clubs etc, just a bit of life, a few shops to mooch around perhaps and the odd boat trip.
thanks

Yes there's boat trips. We did a trip to Olympia which I'd definitely recommend.

There is not much to do there for teens I would say although I have only been in May and June. However, I have seen live bands play on the front there even then so guess July/August would be even more attractive for young people.

I love it there because of the great beach at Kalogria (short walk from centre of Stoupa where Nikos Zazantzakis, author of Zorba the Greek, wrote the book) as well as beach on the front in Stoupa where the many restaurants are but there is not much else - few shops and a supermarket.

Better I would say to stay in Kardamyli (4/5 miles away) where there is more life (but not such a great beach) although you may prefer to travel (buses or taxi) to Kalogria for beach life and the fantastic beach cafe/bar there - Paralos - which does fab food and has a really chilled atmosphere. I guess you could also do it the other way round as well!

Thanks this is really helpful!! We have found affordable accommodation in Stoupa so I think we will stay there and go to Kardamyli for odd evenings. Is parking ok there do you know ? We will have a car.

I know there is a parking lot opposite entrance to small road leading to Kalogria beach but not sure about Kardamyli - it is on the main Kalamata road (not main as in UK) and has little Greek village roads coming off there.

Couple of miles in the other direction is Agios Nikolas which has a lovely fish restaurant supplied by the one fisherman left!

Kalogria has a volleyball net/s and wonderful snorkeling as the water is so clear - fresh water comes down from the mountains and keeps the water colder than normal but clear as anything. There are also paddleboards and maybe more in August.

As you can tell I love it there!

Have been to Stoupa many times since I was a teenager. It hasn’t really changed. Definitely more of a family vibe than beach bar / clubbing / hang out vibe. But there will be people promenading in the evening. There aren’t as far as I’m aware boat trips but pedallos and SUPs can be hired. Worth swimming between Kalogria & Town beach if you can - there’s a cool cave en route.

loads of interesting historical sites worth visiting if you have a car - Mystras, Monemvasia, Olympia not too far.

You could also consider Kalamata if you think teens need more nightlife.
