Activity holiday recommendations

This is for next year. Looking for a hotel with activities for a 15 year old boy. I know about Mark Warner and will be looking there but I think it’s going to be too expensive. I’m happy to be pool side with a book and a glass of Prosecco. DH is the same but does get bored so he and DS would like activities to do. Looking for more than a couple of trips to a water park. No idea if this helps you give me some recommendations or not!

Neilson?

Neilson - all the way

We had a fantastic holiday last year in the Pyrenees with the help of Penny from the Adventure Creators. We stayed in a holiday home as we were a big group, but she can find any type of accommodation for you and I’m sure could recommend a hotel. We got a number of ‘points’ per person to spend on activities such as rafting, canyoning, downhill scooters, rock climbing, mountain biking etc. you could join for some of the activities and give the others your spare points, or choose not to have any points to use. She has a website that can tell you more.

Thanks. I had a look at a Neilson. Extremely poor options flying from Scotland so that’s out unfortunately.

Does it have to be fully organised? Lots of alpine resorts have activities bookable via the tourist office or ski-school. There are some tour operators like www.alpineelements.co.uk/activity-holidays or likes of Inghams or Tui who can arrange activities.

Surprised as when I looked at Neilson Edinburgh was a more readily available option than LGW.

I would also recommend The Alps in the summer. Beautiful weather and scenery - hot but feels fresh like with natural aircon and also really good value.

You can book into all of the activities directly when you are there - canyoning, mountain biking, white water rafting, glacier skiing etc.

Or if it’s more sports Club La Santa in Lanzarote is great.

Neilsons are sadly terrible for Scottish flight options and I don’t think the resorts they do offer are great for kids. We’re doing club la Santa this year for that reason.

Have a look at families worldwide, they do European activity holidays. Possibly a bit more than you want, but it shows what is possible

Try the Activities Abroad website and also Explore, Exodus, Intrepid.

How about Tenerife ?

Siam Park waterpark one of the best in the world, I think Jet2 do some packages where entrance is included, or what we usually did was go once and then you would get it heavily discounted if you went again.

There's also those inflatable assault courses at sea ( near Costa Adeje) , and a really good Escape room.

If you pick a hotel at the front, you could try to get one with a few sports things going on.
