Where is the best place to go with teenage boys - beginners ? Budget not really an issue. Any recommendations of locations and hotels would be great
Thanks

The Western Algarve seems very popular with surfers, places like Sagres and Zavial. Round the corner on to the Atlantic proper the waves might be to strong for beginners eg Arrifana. Lots of small surf schools around. Most surfers down there seem to be in motorhomes. We self cater so can't suggest any hotels, sorry. I sure some actual surfers will be along soon.

Wow Surfcastle looks amazing! Have you been @Pollywoddles and would you say it’s ok for small kids or more of an older, cool type vibe 🤣 Mine DC are 7 and 10…

thank you!!

Have a look at 'soul and surf'. They have a hotel and run surfing sessions in Portugal. I've been to one of their other sites and was really good.

Pollywoddles · 11/04/2023 22:16

@ChloeR81 I have, such a lovely place and they get all sorts of people, young, old, families, couples etc. but drop them a line and have a chat to them about it.

Sagres is a great place for learning to surf, plus is full of excellent restaurants of all levels.

I haven’t actually stayed at Surf Castle but have been going to that area for years to surf. It’s a beautiful, safe, friendly place with a great, laid back atmosphere that attracts surfers of all ages. With young kids you might be better at getting an apartment in Baleal (that’s the village Surf Castle is in, it’s not actually in Peniche itself) and joining the surf school there (there are several).

This place is great ; https://www.the-maverick.com/

they have a mini bus and take you surfing, yoga is also v good!! You can eat in your villa or they have meals you can sign up for. Praia de Ariea Branca which is close has great restaurants. Peniche is drivable. If you go to Peniche do eat here:

Home - The Maverick Surfvillas

The Maverick is a Surf & Yoga Resort in Portugal, one hour north of Lisbon and close to Peniche. We offer 5 luxurious and comfortable villas.
