Seat allocation Turkish airlines

I have a flight booked for next week. Myself and DD (age 9) appear to have allocated seats but DP doesn’t and if I try to put his seats near to us it’s charging me. I can’t understand how I have two seats but not DPs? Has anyone with children recently travelled with Turkish Airlines? Any idea on why one person would need to pay?

I'm not sure but having read several threads on here the airline is required to put a child next to one adult which it sounds like they have done.

Usually a child under 12 needs to be seated next to an accompanying adult and therefore you got a free seat allocation for you and DD. DH needs either to pay, or you wait to check in and hope he gets allocated a seat next to you

Maybe you get 1 under 12 and 1 parent free and then pay for DH if you want him with you.

You usually have to pay for allocated seats. So just pay if you want to sit together

You can allocate seat at online check in for free so just see what’s left at that time and if not he can just sit separately. I never pay for seats together on short haul and even on EasyJet/Cebu it’s rare that we are completely split up- ie one person rows away from the others.
