Anyone want to find us a holiday?

So, we are looking for a holiday for me, 9yo DS and my mother.

Dates 9 or 10th July to 16th.

On an island (not Kos).

My mother wants on the sea, but does not like AI style resorts. No nightlife required. I want things to see nearby, and local colour not just generic ‘seaside’. Would like to be able to eat in local restaurants not just in the hotel. No enforced socialising. My mother can’t walk far, DS never stops moving.

Flying from Gatwick or Heathrow. or Bristol at a push.

I would rather have two rooms than one.

Budget circa £1000 per person.

Can anyone help? It is feeling a bit impossible to match all the requirements.

Malaga - Spain?

Lovely seafront and loads to see and do!

We went to Santorini last Easter and stayed at the Celestia Grand. We had our own swimming pool. The only thing I would say is that we were slightly out of the way of everything, so if you wanted to go to the beach then it would be a walk/taxi/bus.

Check out Lindos, a nice 2 bed apartment or small villa might suit

Lindos is no good if mobility not great.

Cala d'or

Es Cana or Santa Eulalia on Ibiza

I would look at the Spanish islands, hotels tend to be more accessible, would she want any form of assistance hired eg a scooter? Going out to restaurants isn't easy with mobility issues. Would she consider an ai in a resort with multiple restaurants, we went to one with 6 different options on site, 5 included in the price. If you do fancy Greece Ixia on Rhodes is fairly flat, bus to to Rhodes town is a short hop for more options. I stayed in a modern accessible hotel

Agreed many slopes and steps but nowhere is far..it depends on the walking issues

Thank you so much for these. looking now…

Mobility wise, it is more that for me a holiday is doing stuff, and if she looked round a site one day she would then want to rest for the next

Puerto pollensa in Majorca. It’s our favourite resort in Majorca and is a lovely charming flat resort with a nice beach and lots of restaurants. It has an old square annd retains Spanish charm. Old Pollensa town is a short bus ride away. We have stayed at a hotel called villa concha before with my then 9 yr old and he had a great time. It’s a lovely hotel near the nicest stretch of the beach. We are going back this year and staying in the Puerto azul, for a change.

It's a safe place to do as you feel separately or together, no pressure to accompany each other I feel, that's what's always appealed to me. Not cheap these days

This would probably be a good call - there are a few small/medium sized hotels quite near to the centre and you could easily walk out to somewhere else to eat on an evening if you prefer .

I preferred Alcudia old town to Pollensa town in terms of somewhere to visit . And if your mum wanted a day by the pool to relax some of the AI hotels in Alcudia have activities such as water parks, mini golf which you can pay to use as a non-resident which your son may enjoy .

We found Mallorca quite pricey compared to mainland Spain though .

Resurrecting an old thread! I wondered how you'd compare villaconcha and azul please? We have 3 children age 3 8 and 11. Currently trying to decide between these 2 hotels! Thank you!

Hi we love both villa concha and Puerto azul. In fact, we have booked to go back to Puerto azul this year, which is our favourite of the two. The food was great in the Puerto azul and we preferred the pool area. The evening entertainment is better in the Puerto azul and the kids entertainment people seem good there too. However, our son is 16 and because you have younger children your kids would probably really love the children’s pool area with slides at the villa concha. There are no slides st the Puerto azul. Also The villa concha is right by the best wider section of the beach in Puerto pollensa (whereas the Puerto azul is abit of a trek to that beach) and so if you spend loads of time at the beach with the children then villa concha will defo also be best. I therefore think the villa concha may be your best choice!
