Fancy little spa hotel, UK or Ireland

Hello! So, like it says, I'm looking for recommendations for a fancy little spa hotel somewhere in the UK or Ireland; somewhere I can go for a few nights to collapse, splash in a pool, maybe get massaged down into a pulp, read my books, eat nice food, and sleep. It'll just be me so doesn't have to be too 'romantic', just somewhere I can properly unwind for a little bit. Fancy can be anything from old buildings in little market towns, to more eco-hot tub type things in Cornwall. Thank-you!

Depends I guess where you are coming from etc. I know a lovely place that sounds perfect but you would have to fly into either Dublin or Belfast and rent a car as it would be 45 mins from either. Have you a starting point op?

Ooh @Pseudonamed would you mind naming the place? I’m going to that area in a few weeks and considering booking a spa day

Indeed it is Kileavy castle hotel in County Armagh. We came across it a couple of years ago and anytime we fancy ditching the kids (ok well not anytime cos we would live there lol ) we book in here.

Thanks all! I'll be travelling from London; but might combine a spa trip in Ireland with some time with friends in Dublin, for a longer trip.

My own recommendation is the Spread Eagle hotel in Midhurst - lovely old place, very good for a night or two of r&r.

Monart Spa . About 90 mins from Dublin. Stayed there earlier this year and it was amazing. There were a few solo travelers there too.

Another rec for Feversham Arms in Helmsley - wonderful.

I wouldn't book Killeavy for a spa break. It's a lovely hotel (I'm off there tomorrow!) but the thermal suite is the size of a postage stamp so I would avoid if the spa is important to you. It was very disappointing the first time and the only topic of small talk among guests.

For a full on spa break, Monart is what you want.

If you want the hotel to be a bit bigger and livelier, look at Galgorm.

Carden Park in Cheshire has an amazing garden spa. I’m not sure if this is too far for you to travel though perhaps?

Thank you for this thread @potplantsinparadise - I am thinking of treating myself to something similar after a tough couple of years, so to come on MN and find recommendations is just about perfect!
