Passport help

I have just been asked to go to France at the end of this month. I have just checked my passport and it runs out on 23rd July. I have looked online but seem to be getting different answers as to how long I need on my passport. Can anyone help please?

You have to have 3 months left on your passport on the day you return. So you won't be able to travel if you have less than 3 months till your passport runs out (for France and Spain etc)

And it must have been issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country - if you renewed a passport early, which many people do, months would ahve been added on to the passport, but those months don't count. So your passport might have been issued with validity for 10 years and 5 months added from the old passport.

By my reckoning based on what you have said, your current passport won't be acceptable.

Thank you. That's what's I thought. How annoying! A few more weeks and I would have been ok!
