I can't believe it is true

I usually do one hour
surely 2 will be enough

depends on whether you are flying Easyjet

CountessDracula · 14/02/2008 15:23

Following the recent incident at Glasgow Airport, all UK airports have introduced additional security measures and we are therefore advising that all passengers arrive for check-in at least 3 hours prior to the departure time.

it says

where are you flying to? America, africa and asia need three hours. two is fine for europe, and one for britain.

CountessDracula · 14/02/2008 15:25

caribbean

Depends where you are going to.

We had to check in no later than 2.5 hours before a longhaul flight to Oz.

But only 45 mins before an internal UK flight.

CountessDracula · 14/02/2008 15:26

i mean it is not a recent incident any more really is it?

ffs
3 hours is maaaaaaaad

I never do. 2 hours for long haul and an hour for short haul. I still always stick to this, without any problems.

oranges · 14/02/2008 15:33

I do 2.5 hours long haul with no problems. I think 2 hours is fine too, tbh - I leave the extra 30 mins for last minute nappy crises.

cestlavie · 14/02/2008 15:36

It is bollocks. For short haul, advised check in time is 2 hours but they don't close the check-in until 20 minutes before gate closes - 40 minutes is plenty (had to beg my way through check-in with 20 minutes to go last week). For long haul, and hour to an hour and a quarter is fine though it doesn't give you enough time to have a few drinks and do a bit of shopping. 3 hours is just utter madness!

CountessDracula · 14/02/2008 15:37

ah yes we won't have those

Maybe I should book a lounge if we have to hang around for so long

Thank you
I am queen of the last minute check-in (much to dh's horror) and the thought of turning up 3 hours before makes me feel ill

I thought they were telling porkies!

Depends on the airport - 1 hour fine for european at Birmingham, but at Heathrow, you can easily be in the security queue for an hour at busy times. Stanstead its easy to get 45 min in the sec queue and 30 mins in the check in queue.

I flew to Majorca from gatwick last september. checked in 2.5 hours before as we were staying at hotel so thought we'd check in then go get breakfast. were an hour in queue for check-in, then at least an hour in security queue and ran to the plane just in time to board...

if you're flying from one of the major air ports I would give it three hours for long-hall. once you've checked in you can still shop/eat/wander around.

hoxtonchick · 14/02/2008 15:54
