Help - Day trip to Rotterdam

Noneedtobemean · 07/04/2023 22:17

We're currently on holiday in The Netherlands. I want to drive over to Rotterdam tomorrow, but I'm a bit unsure of where to park and how to travel around the city.

DH hasn't come on this trip so it just me and 3 teen DCs.

We were thinking of maybe doing a bit of sightseeing, a boat trip, possibly the pinball museum and then a restaurant.

Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks

If you can get tickets, the Museum Van Beuningen depot is worth visiting, a unique place.
Cube House likewise.
You don't need an organised boat trip, just use the ferry to Dordrecht part way and back.
Park near a Metro station on the outskirts and use the Metro to travel about.

Don't know about parking or restaurants, but for sightseeing I'd recommend Spido boat tour of the harbour (ticket office near north side of Erasmusbrug) and a trip up the Euromast.

Central Rotterdam is pretty walkable but you can buy day tickets for public transport if needed. If you're going to see a few attractions it may be worth getting a one-day Rotterdam Welcome Card (there's also one which includes public transport) from tourist information (at Centraal Station or on Coolsingel) as it gives discounts, including for the Spido tour.

As PP mentioned, Waterbus which goes to Dordrecht is lovely, but this isn't covered by the RET (Rotterdam transport network) card.

Have a great day - it's an amazing city!

@Noneedtobemean I'm going to be there for a day off a cruise shopping in 2 weeks so I'm interested in what you did in your day please ?

We did the Spido boat tour, Euromast, toured a windmill called Opstapplaats Steiger ikapitien and visited the Pinball Musuem. Once in the Pinball Museum you can play on all the pinball machines, this is included in the entry price.

Then we had dinner on a Chinese boat restaurant.

We drove in to the city, but once parked we used the tram. Someone told me about an app called 9292 Travels with you. It tells you how to get from place to place in the city. You can also buy tram tickets on it.
