Dover Calais ferry, book flexible?

I am about to book ferry tickets for Summer. Normally I don't book flexible fares as I trust we will get there in time, and if held up, travel insurance would cover us for any costs. But seeing all the delays in the news I am wondering about booking a flexible fare this time. It would add £60 which is more than insurance. But may be worth it for peace of mind. WWYD?

I wouldn't bother unless you're travelling on the first day/weekend of summer holidays or the august BH.

When we’ve travelled they have always stuck us on the next available ferry, especially if it’s been busy FWIW.

Thanks. Us too, to be honest.

We booked last month and got upgraded to flexi for free. Not sure if it's still an offer?
