Long haul/sunshine in Feb

Hello! Thought I'd consult the experts here before losing my mind on the Tui website!
Looking for a holiday in Feb next year. Me, DH and DC's nearly 4 and 8m.
(Am crazy even contemplating long haul with an 8 month old??)
Considering Dominican Republic or Cape Verde as I've been to both and know them well. Any other recommendations I should be looking at?
I've never been keen on the idea of Turkey/Morocco/Dubai but happy to look if we find a gem!

Please let me know if you know any resorts that match the following:
-great children's pool with slides, bonus for a water park that my nearly 4 old can visit as most seem to have height age restrictions
-temp around 25degrees plus
-good selection of bars and restaurants on site
-good guided tours available
-very family friendly
-budget around £5k for 7-10 nights

Tbh the pool is the main driver as she is water mad and will want to be in it all day!
Thanks in advance

We like Cape Verde on the basis that there's no time difference and guaranteed beautiful weather

Thanks Rampila, the time difference is probably going to swing it for us tbh.
We've only been to Sal though, do you know any of the other islands?

  • Turkey won't be particularly warm in Feb, so I'd write that off straight away.
  • Never been to Cape Verde, but my hairdresser went and said she'd never been so bored in all her life and there was nothing to do!
  • I think you'll find what you want in Dubai, but I've never been. There are masses of hotels though, many supposed to be lovely and the weather is great there in the UK winter. Some friends went to the Atlantis with their kids and said the water park is amazing, but their kids were older.

Boa Vista much nicer than Sal IME.

Im not keen on DR but would recommend Mexico and there are so many resorts with a lot for children.

Melia Tortuga hotel in Sal, Cape Verde.
I know you have been to Sal before but it’s the most developed island with the most to do.
We didn’t expect much beyond warm weather but had a brilliant time, the kids loved it

I don't like Dubai for all kinds of reasons but the weather is good and there is lots for kids. Personally I think you would be better off risking the Canary's if you can't run to Caribbean etc - Dominican Republic- hmmm - some like it , but like Egypt I do know many who had bad stomaches or rats etc. Mexico or Cuba or Florida possibly??

Asía is lovely then. Thailand Malaysia Lovely

Me and DH went to Cuba in a February. Amazing. It's the end of hurricane season, was hot hot hot and beautiful beaches.

Whataretheodds · 06/04/2023 15:26

I wouldn't go West in Feb for choice, the time difference coming back is harder when it's dark in the morning at home.

If not Dubai you may find what you're looking for in Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah or even Sharjah (but it's mostly dry). Depends what kind of tours you want to do.
