Are late august holidays usually a bit cheaper?

Than say early august/July holidays?

I'm looking to book a euro camp hol in northern France and wondering when we're likely to get the best deal. We can do June but I know prices tend to start rising at that point?

Yes. I have found the last week of the holidays cheaper.

Rayna37 · 03/04/2023 13:20

Definitely in France, yes. I'm sure June would still be cheaper though.

I noticed the week commencing 26 August was cheaper than the rest of August ...but if you could go in June I would guess that would be cheaper than any of August

Thank you all!

My thinking is august is likely to be warmer than June, with less rain, but if cheaper we may choose June!!

You can do a simple check by changing the dates on the booking site but I think that places like Eurocamp and european centre parcs can be cheaper at the end of our school holidays because they go back to school earlier than the uk.

I think so. I think lots of European counties, Scotland and parts of England are back in school towards the end of Europe, so less demand than last July/early August.

Twilightstarbright · 03/04/2023 15:19

Yes, a lot of European schools are back by then.

I think I’d go for June, think the weather is normally better than the very end of August

I think we'll go for June. My son starts school September and I've realised it'll be lighter in June as well in the evenings.

Thanks all!

We used to book direct with the sites as often it was cheaper if outside that countries school holidays. Then book ferry/tunnel separately.

We've been to France in August and it's light til nearly 10pm.

A lot of countries in Europe will have already gone back to school by the last week of august so that should make accommodation cheaper
