Would you stay here with an 18 month old?

Family are keen to stay here on Koh Samui. It looks lovely but would the private pool outside the room be a major safety hazard with an 18 month old? At first I thought it would be great as we could swim while she napped inside but then I got to worrying that the risk of her falling in might be too high. Obviously we would be watching her all the time so maybe I'm worrying for nothing. The other room type they have is on the 2nd floor and has a balcony so also not ideal.

It really depends what your toddler is like. With one of mine it would have been fine, with the other I would have spent the whole time stressing out (very active - no fear) and not able to relax.

But if you’re going to Thailand, it’s hot and you’ll want some sort of access to a pool?

Maybe stay somewhere with a kids’ club? (Shallow kids pools, lots of other little ones about, etc)

Thanks! We are still looking at options, that one is just the first choice of other family members. It is still some time away - my baby is only 9 months now and not even crawling so it's a big unknown what she will be like to travel with at 18 months. Keen to hear others experiences but I guess every child is different anyway.

cant comment on the hotel but I wouldn’t take a toddler to Thailand!

we took ours to portugal when a baby which was fine but trips between the ages of 1 and 3ish (at which point they are old enough to sit down and watch peppa pig) were a total ‘mare because they just wanted to move around the plane constantly.

Yes, I guess the travel could a bit of a nightmare. Our family live in NZ so it will be hard to avoid long haul travel with our little one unless we don't see family for a few years but our daughter is the only grandchild of my parents. In this case we would be meeting the family from NZ in Thailand so it would actually be less travel than going home but still not fun.
