I really want to book a Caribbean holiday for Easter 2024. I have found a hotel that looks like it fits the bill apart from one thing, it’s one room with two double bed in for the 4 of us, myself, DH and 2 x DS (10 and 12).
Am I mad to think 11 nights with the 4 of us sharing one room is going to work? We have only ever stayed in villas or apartments where we have had separate bedrooms and more space.
There are few hotels that seem to actual have apartment type rooms they all seem to be hotel rooms or if they do have room upgrade options they become out of our price range. It’s Easter school holidays so it’s already premium price range.

That’s an American style room where it’s normal to have two queen size beds. Depends if you can stick each other really! If it’s just sleeping and it saves ££££ why not? Everyone else will. I’d go somewhere nicer for 7 nights.

Will your DS’ share a bed? That would be my biggest concern. Apart from that I’d just spend time in the resort and not the actual room.

We did similar as a family when I was 18 and my brother was 13. I shared with my mum, he shared with my dad (as we obvious we're we'll pay sharing at that point!)

It was the only way we could afford to go (Jamaica) and we have some great family memories. There was some moaning as we all wanted to get up/go to bed at different times, but I'd say do it - you're only in your room for sleeping.

The DS are 10 and 12. Not yet teens so don’t see why they cannot share.

Thanks everyone. I have booked it!
We have a campervan and they share a bed in the van and we are used to spending 2 weeks in the UK in that. It will be more room than when we camp and the weather will be lovely so we won’t be in the room very often hopefully. I’m not sure what I was worrying about actually. I think it’s just because it’s a different set up to whenever we have been abroad before. Only 359 days to go! ☀️

We.did this in Orlando when kids were a bit younger than yours.

It was absolutely fine because we all.get along and we're honestly not in the room much. It was helpful when we.lost things to know they were in the one room somewhere and not have to search more!

Sometimes it's the only way to afford an experinece.
